NEWSFLASH! Georgia will be the first state to implement a school based totally on sexual orientation and gender identity.

A first-of-its-kind private school in Georgia aimed at attracting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth and teachers is being established in Atlanta for students who feel bullied or not accepted in traditional schools.
To Pride School Atlanta is a k-12 institution designed to be an alternative for LGBT students, though the school is open to any student who believes they’re not getting the support they need for “being different,” says Pride School founder Christian Zsilavetz.

“Kids have full permission to be themselves — as well as educators. Where there’s no wondering, ‘Is this teacher going to be a person for me to be myself with?'” said Zsilavetz, who is transgender and a veteran teacher with nearly 25 years of experience.

“This is a place where they (students) can just open up and be the best person they can be.”

More details about ‘Pride School Atlanta’ below…

According to the AJC, Pride School will initially operate out of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta church and is expected to open by September 2016.

Tuition will be around $13,000, though Zsilavetz says financial assistance is available for students who need it.

It is part of a small but growing group of schools popping up nationally geared toward educating LGBT youth, who feel disenfranchised from public education. Pride School would be the first of its kind in the Southeast and, according to gay rights advocates, a significant development for the LGBT movement.

“There’s a number of kids who come from the South … migrating to places like New York and other cities because they feel like it’s more tolerant for them,” said Ross Murray, programs director, global and U.S. South, for gay rights group GLAAD.

They claim Oscar so white yet they ignore fellow black during BET AWARDS

Jada Pinkett Smith posted a motivational video about knowing your worth.  At the end of  the video she told her fans she will not be attending or watching the Oscars.  Spike Lee aslo joined today. Take a trip down memory lane.  Few months ago during the BET Awards. African Artists boycotted about not being able to accept their awards on the same stage as other American Artists.  The African Artists such as Wizkid,  Yemi Alade, Dencia and many Artists felt that BET officials needed to respect their craft and award them on stage instead of hosting a pre show.  What are you're thoughts?
Blacks should respect blacks then non blacks will follow.

Beyonce vs Liv? Jay Z's alleged mistress disses Beyonce in 'Sorry Mrs. Carter'

Liv, a rapper who tabloids like to speculate is Jay Z’s mistress, has joined the chorus of gossip magazines and anonymous sources claiming Beyoncé and Jay Z are on the rocks by releasing “Sorry Mrs. Carter,” a song disputing the allegations but still apologizing to Beyoncé. It remains somewhat unclear what exactly she’s apologizing to Beyoncé for. Not sleeping with her husband? Jay Z’s supposed bad behavior with other women? This song’s quality, maybe?
“F–k f–king to the top, me and Jay never screwed,” Liv raps before raising a (somewhat confusing) question that seems directed at Mrs. Carter-Knowles’ decisions: “You got a good girl, why she messing with a bad guy?” She samples OutKast’s “Ms. Jackson” for the chorus, breathlessly singing, “Sorry Mrs. Carter, this is for real.” But just when you think this whole song is just an apology to Beyoncé, Liv goes on the offensive. “Why don’t you tell these girls how to be wives? Why don’t tell these girls how to act around yo’ husband?”
If you somehow aren’t compelled to press “play,” here are five amusing song references Liv makes on the track—including, of course, a (disapproving) nod to the “Drunk in Love” catchphrase “serfbort.”
“The man? He likes model chicks. He likes all naturally flawless model chicks, like me.”
“Jigga man, I don’t care if you rap, you got to R-E-S-P-E-C-T.”
“You got 99 problems, I’m not tryin’ to be one.”
“Girls can’t run the world fightin’ over men, all my single ladies better keep in mind when them those tables turn you gon’ be the wife.”

“You out here tellin’ them how to serfbort. Come on, now. Serfborts. Monica Lewinsky. You married woman.”

American physician with Ebola virus arrives in Atlanta for treatment

American physician with Ebola virus arrives in Atlanta for treatment

Officials working to prevent fears the Ebola virus will spread in U.S.
The gray air ambulance carrying Dr. Kent Brantly landed at Dobbins Air Reserve Base outside Atlanta at about 11:30 a.m. EDT and was met by a specially outfitted ambulance, which whisked him to the hospital for treatment in an isolated ward.
Upon arrival at the hospital about 12:30 p.m., a person wearing white, hooded, protective gear helped another individual in protective gear out of the back of the ambulance and through a hospital backdoor, according to live footage of the arrival from WXIA-TV in Atlanta.
The ambulance left and TV news cameras did not capture anyone else exiting the vehicle, though it was unclear whether one of the individuals in protective gear was Brantly.
His dramatic journey was set in motion early this week, when Samaritan’s Purse, the aid agency Brantly was working with in West Africa, asked Emory to receive Brantly and another American aid worker who became infected, Nancy Writebol. His plane left Liberia overnight.
The hospital said in a statement that it expects Writebol would be transferred to the facility the week of Aug. 3. Writebol was working for SIM, a Christian aid group, when she fell ill.
“We thank God that they are alive and now have access to the best care in the world,” Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan’s Purse, said in a statement Saturday.
“The bottom line is, we have an inordinate amount of safety associated with this patient,” Ribner said when discussing the arrival of Brantly.
The Ebola outbreak has killed more than 720 people in West Africa and has a mortality rate of at least 60%. There is no cure or vaccine, but doctors at Emory say they are “cautiously optimistic” that with proper care and close monitoring they can successfully treat Brantly and Writebol.
On Friday the top health official with the United Nations pledged to release $100 million in funding to deploy hundreds of medical staffers to fight the virus.

IS TONTO DIKEH REALLY A DUST OFF? WHAT WILL IYANYA DO WITH/FOR YVONNE NELSON & GENEVIVE NNAJI

IYANYA

Tonto Dikeh is a dust off per Iyanya interview.  Is it fair? Iyanya was left with no choice but to answer a question by an interviewer early this week.  The interviewer on Rubbing Minds asked singer Iyanya who he would "Die" for, have "Dinner" with or "Dust Off."  Ohh that was definitely a trick question.  Iyanya should have seen it coming.  It's like a man guessing a woman's age or weight you're never right.  Singer Iyanya said he would have dinner with Genevieve, die for Yvonne Nelson and dust off Tonto Dikeh.

Iyanya will dine with Yvonne Nelson.. Who wouldn't?

Iyanya will Dust off Tonto Dikeh.. Tonto has always been controversal.. We luv her though.. POKO

Is the HIV Virus: A Possible Cure for Leukemia ?
Emma WhiteheadIn April 2012, 7-year-old Emily “Emma” Whitehead was in the fight of her life following her second relapse of acute lymphoblastic—or lymphocytic—leukemia (ALL). The then 6-year-old’s parents and doctors turned to an unlikely source to save the young girl's life—the HIV virus.
Emma, diagnosed with ALL in 2010, underwent an experimental procedure involving a disabled form of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, after two unsuccessful courses of chemotherapy failed to achieve sustained remission. The treatment, pioneered at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, is similar to therapies being developed at other cancer centers around the U.S.
7 Everyday Products Linked to Cancer

"Training" Cells to Kill Cancer

Emma is one of a handful of patients with advanced leukemia to receive the CT019 therapy (formerly called CART 19 therapy), an experimental treatment that involves doctors reprogramming a person’s T-cells—a type of white blood cell that plays a key role in the immune system—to search out and kill cancer cells.
The experimental technique relies on help from a disabled form of HIV because the virus is adept at carrying genetic material into T-cells so they’re able to kill off cancer cells. Those genetically altered T-cells go to work attacking cells in the body that play a role in the development of leukemia.
It's important to note that the T-cells are removed from the patient before being bioengineered with the HIV virus. The patient is not injected with the virus. This treatment differs from chemotherapy, a drug that is one of the most common treatments of leukemia, which kills off all fast-growing cells in the body.
5 Weird Things that Predict Good Health

Emma's Remission

Three weeks after receiving the treatment at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, a bone marrow test revealed Emma had achieved remission. Today, she’s still in remission and thriving, but her doctors caution the remission needs to be sustained for a few years before using words like“cured.”
Regardless, the pharmaceutical industry is hopeful. In a statement, Hervé Hoppenot, the president of Novartis Oncology, called the research “fantastic” and said it had the potential—if the early results held up—to revolutionize the treatment of leukemia and related blood cancers. Researchers hope similar therapies that involve the reprogramming of a patient’s immune system, may also eventually be used to fight cancerous breast and prostate tumors.
The Changing Face of HIV

Feeling Bad to Get Better

Ironically, a sign the experimental treatment is working is the patient feeling worse. Raging fever and chills are a sign the T-cells are doing their job and frightening drops in blood pressure can also be a side effect.
Emma experienced extreme symptoms to the treatment; she spiked a fever of 105 and wound up on a ventilator. Doctors deployed another unlikely remedy to treat her—a drug used to treat rheumatoid arthritis that stabilizes the impact the T-cells have on the immune system.
Within hours, Emma showed signs of improving, and a week after the treatment she awoke in the intensive care unit to celebrate her 7th birthday.
In patients with lasting post-treatment remissions, the altered T-cells live on in the bloodstream, though in smaller numbers than when they were fighting the disease. Researchers report some patients having a small number of the cells for years.

ALL By The Numbers

The bone marrow in healthy kids makes immature blood cells (called stem cells) that become mature blood cells over time. The National Cancer Institute says childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia is a type of cancer in which the bone marrow makes too many immature white blood cells. When a child has ALL, all those immature white blood cells don’t function like healthy cells, making it tough for the body to fight infection.
This type of cancer usually gets worse quickly if untreated and is the most common type of cancer in children.
In the United States, about 3,000 children each year are diagnosed with ALL. The disease can develop in children of all ages, as well as adults, but typically it occurs in patients 3 to 5 years old.
Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia: Learn the Facts

The Symptoms of ALL

The National Cancer Institute says these are the most common symptoms of childhood ALL:
  • Fever.
  • Easy bruising or bleeding.
  • Petechiae (flat, pinpoint, dark-red spots under the skin caused by bleeding).
  • Bone or joint pain.
  • Painless lumps in the neck, underarm, stomach, or groin.
  • Pain or feeling of fullness below the ribs.
  • Weakness, feeling tired, or looking pale.
  • Loss of appetite.
Other conditions may cause the same symptoms so it’s best to check with your child’s doctor if your child has any of the above symptoms, or other worrisome health issues.
